The Ryzen 7 5800X3D non-overclockable gaming processor has already been overclocked. Enthusiast used a workaround

We already know what the Ryzen 7 5800X3D processor is like in games and in regular applications. As it turned out, this CPU can still be overclocked.

To begin with, it is worth noting that AMD itself has blocked overclocking of this processor at the BIOS level. This is the company’s first conditionally non-overclockable CPU in many years. The reason lies precisely in the additional cache memory chip. The fact is that modern Ryzen CPUs can operate in overclocked mode at a voltage of 1.5–1.6 V, while the 3D V-Cache chip is designed for only 1.35 V. However, enthusiasts have already found a workaround.

The overclocker armed himself with the Asus ROG Crosshair VIII Extreme motherboard, which supports Asus’ proprietary Voltage Suspension technology. He managed to increase the BCLK frequency to 105.99 Hz while maintaining a multiplier of 45.5 and a voltage of 1.306 V. As a result, the processor worked at a frequency of 4.82 GHz with its maximum of 4.5 GHz.

Of course, given the conditions, overclocking the Ryzen 7 5800X3D is unlikely to interest ordinary users, but for overclockers, on the contrary, this is an additional challenge.
