Meizu has officially responded to accusations that the latest flagship smartphones Meizu 18 and Meizu 18 Pro do not have one of the “key” functions.

The thing is that according to the official specifications, Meizu 18 and Meizu 18 Pro are equipped with Samsung AMOLED screens with a resolution of 3200 x 1440 pixels, which support image refresh rates up to 120 Hz. However, soon after the announcement, it became known that the frequency of 120 Hz at the maximum screen resolution is not supported. This was confirmed by representatives of Meizu, noting that if you use 120 Hz at a resolution of 2K, then the smartphone’s power consumption increases dramatically.
Now Meizu has released an official statement on the matter. It turns out that the company is going to release a special software update “over the air” that will enable support for 2K + 120Hz mode. Moreover, this will be done rather quickly, since we are talking about the activation of 2K + 120Hz from the “first buyers”.

Sales of the Meizu 18 and Meizu 18 Pro in China begin tomorrow, March 8, 2021.
