The latest bulletin from Fiocruz’s Covid-19 Observatory, released this Friday (29), points out that the current scenario is favorable and the main indicators continue to fall, but the pandemic is not over yet. Specialists draw attention to the inequality in vaccination rates between states and municipalities.
According to the record, epidemiological data from April 10 to 23 show “a further reduction in indicators of the intensity of transmission of Covid-19 in Brazil, without any state showing a significant upward trend in the number of cases”.
“Maintaining the current pattern, the trend of reduction in the indicators that most concern the population and health services is expected in the coming weeks: mortality and ICU admission due to Covid-19”, adds Fiocruz.
However, despite the maintenance of the downward trend in the main indicators, experts warn that the “vaccination process has advanced in the country, but still very unevenly”.
“In terms of population size and percentage of people vaccinated, São Paulo stands out (90% with the first dose, 86% A with the second dose and 56% with the third dose) and at the other extreme Amapá and Roraima (less than 65% for the first dose, 50% for the second dose and 14% for the third dose)”, points out the bulletin from the Covid-19 Observatory.
To contribute to an even more significant improvement in the pandemic scenario, Fiocruz recommends “policies and actions to expand vaccination in states and municipalities that have lower coverage, as well as campaigns encouraging vaccination in the various media”.
Other measures are also indicated, such as the requirement for a vaccine passport in public buildings and workplaces, and the use of masks in situations of agglomerations and poorly ventilated environments.
