A rare dazzling pink is up for auction at Sotheby’s diamond, with the price expected to exceed 21 million dollars (approximately 21 million euros). Prior to the auction the ‘Williamson Pink Star’ will tour Dubai, Singapore and Taipei before arriving in Hong Kong.
At 11.15 carats, the ‘Williamson Pink Star’ is the second largest internally flawless fancy pink diamond ever to appear at auction. Sourced from a 32-carat rough diamond from the Williamson mine in Tanzania, it has the ideal cut that brings out its inner beauty. Look at the diamond here
“(Pink diamonds) are extremely rare,” Kristian Spofforth, Sotheby’s head of jewelry, told Reuters. That’s why he expects many bids for the gem at a stand-alone auction to be held on October 5 in Hong Kong.
“We have seen that during the quarantine and in general in the pandemic the interest in this rare stone has not stopped existing and I think it will have many bidders,” he said.
