Bolivia’s Supreme Court (TSE) announced yesterday Thursday that a second round of the presidential election will be held on October 19, which will face the first two votes in the first round: center -right Senator Rodrigo and Rodrigo. As they received 32% and 26.7% of the votes respectively, neither of them fulfilled the terms to secure the first victory – which is either higher than 50%, or more than 40% by at least 10 percentage points from the nearest opponent. It is the first time that a second round of presidential elections in Latin America will be organized after this mechanism was implemented in 2009.
