The director Kleber Mendonça Filho 56, shared on his social networks this Wednesday (7) First disclosure image of the movie “The Secret Agent”, which marks the return of actor Wagner Moura 48, to Brazilian cinema.
The feature will debut at the 78th edition of the Cannes Festival, which will take place between May 13 and 24, in France, and is in the official selection to compete for the maximum prize of the event, the Golden Palm.
The plot is set in the 1970s. In the plot, Marcelo, a technology expert, escapes a mysterious past and decides to return to Recife in search of a little peace, but realizes that the city is far from being the Refuge that seeks.
This is Kleber Mendonça Filho’s third movie to compete for the Golden Palm. Previously, the Pernambuco filmmaker had “Aquarius” and “Bacurau” in the official national team, as well as “Chamebre 999” and “Ghost Portraits” in special exhibitions of the festival.
“The Secret Agent” marks Wagner Moura’s return to Brazilian cinema. In recent years, he has been in international productions such as “Sergio” (2020), “Civil War” (2024) and “drug thieves” (2024).
