The Brazilian Movie “The Secret Agent” It’s on Official selection of the 78th edition of the Cannes Festival And it is up to the maximum prize, the palm of gold. The event takes place between the days May 13th and 24th in France.
The title is the new work of Kleber Mendonça Filho (“Bacurau”) and has Wagner Moura (“Elite troop”), MARIA FERNANDA CANDID (“Terra Nostra”), Gabriel Leone (“Sun”), Isabel Zuaa (“The Node of the Devil”), Alice Carvalho (“New Cangaço”) In the cast.
The plot is set in the 1970s. In the plot, Marcelo, a technology -specialist teacher who is in his 40s, runs away from a mysterious past and decides to return to Recife in search of a little peace, but realizes that the city is far from being the Refuge that seeks.
This is the Kleber Mendonça Filho’s third film to compete for the Golden Palm . Previously, the Pernambuco filmmaker had “Aquarius” and “Bacurau” in the official national team, as well as “Chamebre 999” and “Ghost Portraits” in special exhibitions of the festival.
“The Secret Agent” marks Wagner Moura’s return to Brazilian cinema. In recent years, he has been in international productions such as “Sergio” (2020), “Civil War” (2024) and “drug thieves” (2024).
