  • Barry Hartz cinema critic

“Sometimes wild but often conventional, Mendonça Filho’s history mining, which seems planned to get the acquisition of Sony Pics Classics (although I’m confusing about:“ Netflix ”in credits). But Moura is scorching and has an unbuttoned shirt aesthetics.”

  • Indie Wire

“Far from the high octane spy image that his title may suggest, ‘the secret agent’ only bumps into spying plots as if by accident, and his protagonist seems to be as confusing with them as we. The film follows the rhythm and content of an exile drama, although full of movie B and persecuted by two unscrupulous killers.”

“THE Saga Gentle, Carrier and Immacularly Textured of Death and Memory of Kleber Mendonça Filho in Brazil of 1977 is a fascinating complement to ‘I’m still here’ Last year (and a stronger movie overall, I think). ”

  • PIERRE X. GARNIER Director of the 7ème Lune Festival

“The Secret Agent ‘of Kleber Mendonça Filho is a fascinating and powerful thriller, set during the Brazilian dictatorship. Wagner Moura, magnetic, radiates and carries the movie with mastery . A work of tension, brilliantly staged. Very good movie. ”

  • Screen Daily

Kleber Mendonça Filho’s fourth fictional fiction feature film is a saturated sweat movie: a double-timed thriller driven by the anarchic and erratic energy type you would expect to find at the end of a two-day spree. ”

  • Variety

“Cinematographically stunning time drama reveals a surprising clandestine support network operating during the period of the Brazilian military dictatorship, when human lives were considered dispensable. (…) Mendonça shows a remarkable ability not only to recreate, but to transport us back to that time, with its oppressive and paranoid heat. ”
