A new photo of “The Secret Agent” by Kleber Mendonça Filho, was released on Thursday (8), days before the debut in the Cannes Festival which happens between May 13 and 24. The Brazilian title competes for the top prize of the official national team, the Golden Palm. See the full list below.

The plot is set in the 1970s. In the plot, Marcelo, a technology expert, escapes a mysterious past and decides to return to Recife in search of a little peace, but realizes that the city is far from being the Refuge that seeks.
This is the Kleber Mendonça Filho’s third film to compete for the Golden Palm . Previously, the Pernambuco filmmaker had “Aquarius” and “Bacurau” in the official national team, as well as “Chamebre 999” and “Ghost Portraits” in special exhibitions of the festival.
“The Secret Agent” marks Wagner Moura’s return to Brazilian cinema. In recent years, he has been in international productions such as “Sergio” (2020), “Civil War” (2024) and “drug thieves” (2024).
