The semiconductor shortage will not disappear even in 2024. Intel thinks it’s in a better position than most

While some companies say that the shortage of semiconductors will become less pronounced in the second half of this year, and will weaken even more next year, Intel believes otherwise.

The semiconductor shortage will not disappear even in 2024. Intel thinks it’s in a better position than most

The head of the company Pat Gelsinger (Pat Gelsinger) said that the forecast of Intel provides for a shortage this year and next, and even in 2024.

This is one of the reasons we believe the overall semiconductor shortage will continue into 2024, compared to our earlier estimates for 2023, simply because the shortage has now hit the hardware and some of those factory ramps will be more complex.

Of course, the scale of the problem in 2024 will not be the same as it is now, but there will still be shortages in one form or another. In this case, Intel itself will be in a better position than many other companies.

We feel we are in a better position than most. The combination of our in-house capabilities as well as our influence in the semiconductor industry – we’re just better positioned, and that’s part of the structural advantage that Intel has.
