Mustafa’s son was born without arms and legs due to tetra-negligence, a syndrome caused by the drugs Zeynep’s mother had to take when she fell ill with nerve gas during the war in Syria“, Refers to the page of the photo contest.

“We wanted to draw attention to this,” said Aslan, who hopes the image will help the child try to get prosthetic limbs. “The boy always has a lot of energy. “The father seems to have put it down.”

Aslan told the Washington Post that he met the father of three in southern Turkey, near the border with Syria, where they lived in a shop. The parents have since moved in an effort to secure help for Mustafa, their eldest, who needs medical help for which they cannot pay, and special prostheses that they cannot find in Turkey.

“We would give everything to have a better life”

“I swear I went from one hospital to another. “There is no city in which I have not asked about it, but nothing has come out,” Munzir said.

The family has relied heavily on charity for the past three years, since fleeing Idlib.

“The photo has reached the world,” says the boy’s mother Zeinab. “We have been trying for years to be heard by anyone who can hear, to get help for their treatment. We would give everything to have a better life “.
