They are shocked by what unfolded late Saturday night in a house in Florida USA, where a three-year-old boy found a gun inside a couch and shot a 2-year-old girl. The adults at home were watching basketball at the time.
The adults took the girl to the hospital, even crashing into the street, as it became known by the authorities.
“It can not be stressed more strongly: if you have guns in the house, keep them away from children”said Sheriff Grady Judd. “A beautiful little girl is fighting for her life now because another child she did not know managed to get a full gun in his hands,” he added.
Police rushed to the scene of the accident between two cars and found that one of them was on the way to the hospital with a victim shot inside. “A Good Samaritan took the child to the hospital,” according to police.
The girl accepted shot in the chest and was seriously injured. During a press conference on Saturday, the sheriff said he remained in an “extremely critical” but stable condition.
The girl’s mother was not at home when the shooting took place. Kevonte Wilson and Rodderick Haynes, 23, both told police that they were watching basketball when the 3-year-old found the gun. The gun belonged to Wilson, who had “hidden” it on the couch.
Wilson had previously been arrested for theft and is now facing justice in the tragic case.
