In an environment where even native non-reference graphics card developers are not getting enough Nvidia and AMD GPUs in the right amount, it is prudent for off-the-shelf PC manufacturers to negotiate directly with GPU manufacturers. That’s exactly what Lenovo did: the company now has its own 3D cards on top-end AMD Navi 21 GPUs.
New items are called Radeon RX 6800 XT Legion Edition and RX 6900 XT Legion Edition. Outwardly, they are very similar to the Radeon VII, but Lenovo insists that the design was developed independently. As you can see, the name of the video cards is highlighted with the help of customizable LED backlighting, the cooling system – with three fans and a heat distribution plate with the Legion inscription cut out.
Lenovo has already announced that these two models are just the first signs. The company will also have its own versions of the GeForce RTX 3060, RTX 3060 Ti and RTX 3070.
The question as to whether the new items will go on wide sale is still open. But these graphics cards will most certainly appear on Lenovo’s own desktops.
