“We are instructed to stay close to bomb shelters, there is tension in the air all the time,” he said.
According to the Brazilian, who is a tour guide, his thoughts are on his young children, a 5-year-old boy and a 1-year-old girl: “The tension is huge.”
At the same time, however, Rodrigo sees a “strong spirit of unity among the people of Israel” at this time of conflict against Hamas.
“I am currently collecting donations at an NGO in the south of the country, along with countless other Israeli civilians,” he said.
The Brazilian explained that “those who are not on the frontline mobilize as best they can.”
At this time, the work is focused on “providing immediate assistance to Israeli families who have left the south of Israel and are staying throughout the country.”
Food, supplies, clothing and basic necessities are among the donations.

Rodrigo said that he has many Palestinian friends and that he has been inundated with messages from them expressing their rejection of Hamas.
“They ask if my family is okay and I do the same thing for them,” he added.
