The social democrats are first in Romania, but the extreme right has strengthened

The ruling left-wing Social Democratic Party (PSD) is leading in yesterday’s parliamentary elections held in Romania, garnering 22.6% with 99.45% of votes counted, according to electoral commission data. The hard-right Alliance for the Unity of Romanians (AUR) came second with 18.2% of the vote.
