The solutions and facilities available to taxpayers for paying taxes

In a few days, the annual appointment of taxpayers with the Tax Office begins for the payment of the 1st installment of income tax, which three out of ten who submit a tax return will be asked to pay.

The rate of filing returns has increased, but there are still just under 2 million taxpayers left to meet their obligations.

This year the situation is different, with the State choosing to pay taxes in more installments. Thus the income tax will be paid in 8 installments with the first on July 29 and the last at the end of February 2023.

For ENFIA, its repayment has already begun, with taxpayers having already paid almost half of the tax, while the third installment out of a total of ten is scheduled for the end of the month, with the last one on February 28.

The tax calendar is completed by the start of repayment of the debt for the refundable advance. The first will be paid at the end of the month and the last on June 30, 2030, i.e. in 96 installments. Of course, there is the possibility of a one-time payment until July 29, with a 15% bonus on the entire debt.

But let’s look at the possibilities that taxpayers have to pay off their debts in more installments or with discounts. The installments for the three obligations start from 8 and reach 96.

Discounts start at 3% and 15% for those who repay the sums in one go.

Taxpayers also have the following options.

1. Payment in 12 interest-free installments via credit card.

2. Repayment in 24 interest installments, using the fixed arrangement.

Details of the payment calendar

The payment calendar depending on the tax category is structured as follows:

* ENFIA: The 3rd installment is paid by July 29, 2022. The last installment of ENFIA should be paid at the end of February 2023, while those who have difficulty paying their property tax have the possibility to include the debt in the permanent arrangement that provides for up to 24 monthly installments, which, however, are charged with an annual interest rate in the region of 5%. Of course, there is also the solution of 12 interest-free installments offered by banks with credit cards. In the case of a one-off payment, no discount is provided. A total of 6.3 million property owners were asked to pay the amount of 2.25 billion euros. It is estimated that more than 1 billion euros have already flowed into the state coffers from this year’s ENFIA as 800 million euros were paid with the first installment.

* Income tax: Personal tax resulting from the settlement of this year’s tax returns can be paid in eight equal monthly installments, with the first installment due by 29 July 2022 and the last by 28 February 2023. Those who choose to pay the income tax in one lump sum by 29 July 2022 will have a 3% discount on the total amount. And for the income tax there is the possibility of including it in the fixed arrangement of 24 installments or repayment in 12 interest-free monthly installments with their credit card.

* Refundable advance payment: At the end of the month, repayment of the refundable advance payment begins. The resulting amounts can be repaid in up to 96 interest-free monthly installments. Those of the 700,000 businesses and professionals who decide to pay the debt in one lump sum by July 29 will get a 15% discount on the total amount they have to pay back to the public.
