“The Sound and the Syllable”: series based on a play by Miguel Falabella arrives on streaming

The first season of “The Sound and the Syllable” a series based on the play of the same name written by Miguel Falabella, arrives at Disney+ in this Wednesday (28) .

The plot tells the story of Sarah Leighton (Alessandra Maestrini), a young woman on the autistic spectrum who has extraordinary musical ability and dreams of being an opera star, but has been treated as “weird” since childhood.

Her brother, John (Guilherme Magon), manages to arrange a meeting between Sarah and professional opera singer Leonor Delise (Mirna Rubim), who accepts the young woman as her student in lyrical singing. The bond between them will help both change the course of their lives.

Other actors complete the series’ star-studded cast: Miá Mello, Maria Padilha, Juliana Didone, Iléa Ferraz, Julia Balducci, Artur Volpi, Maria Maya, Yara de Novaes, Stella Miranda and more.

Miguel Falabella is the general director of “The Sound and the Syllable” and also wrote the scripts together with Rosana Hermann and Emilio Boechat. The direction is by Cininha de Paula and Juliana Vonlanten.
