The S&P 500 Index hits a new all-time high at 3,976

The main stock indices They started the day mixed on Tuesday as investors appear to choose to stay on the sidelines ahead of the FOMC policy announcements.

However, the S&P 500 Index managed to hit a new high at 3,976 right after the opening bell and was last seen gaining 0.12% on the day at 3,972. Additionally, the Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 0.15% to 32,907 and the Nasdaq Composite was up 0.8% to 13,189.

Financial stocks remain on the defensive Tuesday as the yield on 10-year US Treasuries has fallen for the second day in a row. Similarly, the Energy Index is losing almost 2% under pressure from a more than 1% drop in crude oil prices.

On the other hand, the risk-sensitive communication services index and the technology index gain 0.75% as the best performers in the first operations.
