David Sanchez, younger brother of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, will be brought to trial accused of corruption, according to RTVE state broadcasting. The 51 -year -old is accused of abuse of power and unfair influence related to his position as head of the Bandachot provincial council for artistic events. The investigator ruled that there were “clear evidence of criminal behavior”, noting that the position held by Sanchez had been created specifically for his benefit and had adapted “his personal preferences and professional ambitions”, according to RTVE’s report. David Sanchez is set to be tried along with 10 other defendants in the case, including the head of the Regional Organization of the Socialist Workers’ Party (PSOE) in Estamadura, Miguel Angel Gayardo.
