In the colorful Sixties la sponge was the preferred fabric for the moda beachwear: one-piece swimsuits, bikinis, dresses and accessories were often created with this soft texture. But not only that, because it soon conquered other wardrobe items too, those to be used in everyday life.
Original pieces can still be found in the shops vintage and their contemporary and glamorous style certainly does not go unnoticed.
Give it sixties until the nineties, passing through the fabulous Eighties, it conquered everyone, but then the versatility of this fabric was a bit forgotten and for whole seasons it was only used for bathrobes e bath towels and from the sea.
How to forget the Chanel Spring-Summer 1996 fashion show in which Claudia Schiffer e Cindy Crawford paraded beautifully in their pastel-colored suits with the logo imprinted in the sponge?
In this 2021 it is back in the limelight in a big way. Just think of the Miu Miu Spring-Summer 2021 fashion show: didn’t her colored terry suits win you over at the first runway show?

A sign that we have hit the mark: the terry cloth mania has just begun!
Also in the collection designed by Hailee Steinfeld for the costume brand Frankie, the sponge finds its place. Indeed, the pink suit is precisely the one chosen to reveal the second drop of the collection on instagram.
Another brand all about this texture is Terry, brand that produces 100% terry cloth garments. Their inspiration? There moda Seventies European and American, «that of life by the pool», as they like to call it. Pastel colors and neutral shades for skirts, trousers, dresses to wear not only on vacation.
