The State Duma will create a working group to regulate cryptocurrency mining

First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption Andrei Lugovoi proposed to form a working group to legislatively ensure the legalization of mining in Russia.

At a plenary session on Thursday, November 11, Andrei Lugovoi noted that after the adoption of the law on digital financial assets last year, Russia continues to lose tax revenues and “has been standing still for a year and a half” in the regulation of cryptocurrency mining. The deputy stressed that the discussion of this issue is ripe and proposed to legalize mining.

“We have prepared a bill, and we will introduce it without fail,” the parliamentarian said.

He believes that miners are annually enriched by $ 2 billion at the expense of the population of Russia and at the same time do not pay taxes. In addition, the lack of regulation of mining and the turnover of cryptocurrencies does not allow law enforcement agencies to establish signs of crimes in the activities of individuals in order to make the necessary procedural decisions.

State Duma Chairman Viacheslav Volodin supported the deputy’s proposal and instructed to create an inter-committee working group to regulate cryptocurrency mining. Earlier there was information that the Ministry of Economic Development is in favor of the recognition of mining as an entrepreneurial activity. The initiative was also supported by Anatoly Aksakov, head of the Committee on Financial Markets in the State Duma.
