In the meantime, we have a comparison with Aya Neo. But it is also very important. The Neo has the same screen size and resolution, the same amount of RAM, but is based on the Ryzen 4500U APU. Recall, this is a six-core processor with a Vega 6 GPU with six CUs, clocked at 1.5 GHz. At the heart of the Steam Deck is an AMD Van Gogh processor with four Zen 2 cores and an RDNA 2 GPU with eight 1.5 GHz CUs.
GPU performance in the Ryzen 5 4500U is 1.15 TFLOPS, while the platform in the Valve console is up to 1.6 TFLOPS. Of course, in games, TFLOPS performance alone does not mean much. So, in Doom Eternal, in the same place, the Aya console gave out 37-38 fps, while the Steam Deck provided 58-59 fps. This is with the same settings at the Medium level.
Thus, the Steam Deck, even now, when it is still a non-serial device, is 50-60% faster than one of the most powerful handheld game consoles.
