The Steve McQueen exhibition in Milan

Curated by Vicente Todolìorganized in collaboration with the Tate Modern in London, is one of those exhibitions to put on the agenda, and never mind if the artist – he told us expressly at the inauguration on Tuesday – asked not to post anything, but nothing on social media because his art is made up of visions in motion, often long and complex. How do you summarize them in a post or reel?

Londoner based in Amsterdam, appointed Sir by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth not too long ago, Steve McQueen on over twenty years of artistic and cinematographic career reflects on our human condition, on fragility of our bodies (and our spirits)on inequalities.

They say he is a kind of “Sculptor of moving images“And indeed these six videos that welcome us in the immense spaces of the Hangar look like totems: you look at them from afar, with a certain reverence. It is included in the exhibition itinerary also a real sculpture (you see it in the first photo): it’s called Moonlit and it is made up of two marble rocks covered with a sheet of silver leaf. They are illuminated to such an extent that they catch the visitor’s attention very early on.
