The Athens Stock Exchange is currently in the midst of opposing forces, but it manages to maintain its positive sign, with the help of banks.
In particular, the General Index records gains of 0.61% at 892.73 points, while the turnover is at 36.9 million euros and the volume at 14 million units. The FTSE 25 also recorded an increase of 0.65%, to 2,158.97 points, while the banking index gained 2.16% to 615.61 points.
On the one hand the banks and on the other PPC and Coca Cola, and in the middle the general index that tries to keep not only the levels of 890 units, but also the recovery of the exponential 200-day mobile phone, which is at 886 units.
Holding this technical milestone will help the market in the medium term, but it will have to hold on after the completion of the restructuring in view of the changes in the MSCI indices, which is expected next Tuesday.
Estimates so far for the next day of restructuring are cautiously positive, given that so far the banking sector has shown satisfactory results in the first quarter of the year. In addition to the profitability dynamics, the industry seems to be still improving its non-performing exposures, a trend that seems to continue throughout the year.
Technically, the overall index tests the last step before the 900-point test, but as long as it stays above 886 points, it has its chances. This will change if the market returns to the 870-point range. The banking index is trying to overcome the first resistance in the zone of 610 points, followed by 640 and 650 points.
On the board
On the board now, Sarantis is gaining ground and is leading the rise with + 5.60%, with Ethniki at + 4.07% and Aegean at + 2.70%. Over 1% are the andos in Alpha Bank, Eurobank, OTE and OPAP, while Titan, Motor Oil, PPA, Hellenic Petroleum, Terna Energy, EYDAP and Viohalko are moving slightly upwards.
On the other hand, PPC loses 2.74%, with Coca Cola and IPTO following with -1.49% and -1.33% respectively. Mytilineos, Lambda, Piraeus, Quest, ELHA, Ellaktor and GEK Terna are moving slightly downwards. Jumbo has not changed.
