Today, the Athens Stock Exchange is steadily on a downward trend, but it ends a generally positive week, which, after a mini-upheaval, returns to the upward trajectory of the last month.
In particular, the General Index recorded losses of 0.89% at 874.94 points, while the turnover is at 14.5 million euros and the volume at 5 million pieces. The FTSE 25 also fell by 0.94%, at 2,109.79 points, while the banking index lost 1.31% at 563.91 points.
The AX may have received a “hit” last Friday, but it has managed not only to cover the lost ground, but also to move into the five-day period with gains. In fact, if you exclude Tuesday’s -0.09%, its recovery was quite strong, in terms of accounting, but weak in terms of turnover, which is to be expected as we are in the heart of August.
What stock exchange sources point out to Capital.gr is that the AXA was “connected” more to the climate of the American markets, and less to the cautiousness of the European ones, following more the jump of Wall Street, which caused the better than expected data on inflation . Of course, the paradox is that the Greek market cannot be “insulated” from possible disturbances caused by the Federal Reserve’s policy on European soil, as it operates in euro terms, and will therefore be affected by the exchange rate with the dollar.
In any case, as long as the General Index remains above 870 points, its short-term trend is maintained as positive, with the big bet being to keep these levels in the “weak” trading week ahead. Therefore, any liquidations that will be caused by the profit securing movements, should contain the liquidity within the walls of L. Athens.
On the dashboard
On the board now, Piraeus is losing 2.04%, with Ellactor, OTE, PPC, OPAP, Ethniki, Alpha Bank, Titan, Eurobank and Motor Oil following with losses of more than 1%.
ADMIE, GEK Terna, Viochalko, Hellenic Petroleum, Jumbo, Aegean, Sarantis and Terna Energy are moving slightly downwards, while EYDAP, Lambda and ELHA are unchanged. On the contrary, Mytileneos and PPA are recording gains of more than 1%, while Quest is at +0.35%.
