There are life stories which, despite falling within a rationality perspective, always maintain that depth of mystery which makes them in some way “special” compared to all the others.
Like the birth that took place a few days ago at the Umberto I hospital in Nocera Inferiore, in the province of Salerno, of little Claudia Maria. An unexpected pregnancy for the mother Pina Esposito and dad Garlic Rosary56 and 62 years old respectively, who found themselves embracing their little “miracle” after a great pain had destroyed their lives.
She is a nurse in the neonatal intensive care unit in the same hospital and he is a music teacher. Until two years ago, the couple from Nocera Superiore had reserved all their attention and hopes for Alberto Mariatheir only son, close to graduating in Medicine and passed away at the age of 28, on 25 March 2023 due to a terrible road accident on the A30 in Castel San Giorgio, where his car collided with an ambulance.
A devastating event for the couple who, as Rosario himself said in a radio interview issued to Alpha Radio of Salerno, «left us completely lost and threw us into a dark and painful abyss. Only those who go through this pain can understand.”
In this darkness and in this abyss, «the only thing that gave us the possibility to hold on and support ourselves was to respect the memory of our son and try to remain even more united», explains the music teacher, who to Alberto Maria has dedicated a Facebook page. «We also clung to faith. We took a journey, without a real project – because by now our big project was gone – but it served to soothe our feeling of mental pain a little, above all.”
Then, a year ago, something wonderful and truly unexpected happens in the lives of Pina and Rosario, also considering their mature age. «A couple of months before my wife’s pregnancy I had dreamed of my son Alberto twice, within three days», says Rosario. «He was holding the hand of a little girl, I asked him for explanations, but in both the first and second dreams he replied that he didn’t have time to dedicate to me, because “for the moment I’m with my sister”. I had noticed this little blonde girl in a white dress”, continues Rosario. «At first I feared it was the announcement of something unpleasant, I was worried. After three days, however, I had the same dream again with the same dynamics and the same episodes. And I thought it was all the fruit of my mind.”
But then, “two months later, my wife feels ill and with an ultrasound visit, instead of receiving bad news, we discover that it is a pregnancy!”.
Last January 23rd, little Claudia Maria was born with a cesarean section and after an uncomplicated pregnancy, so much so that mother Pina worked in the Intensive Care unit until a month before giving birth. A miracle of life (and faith) in all respects, and although “we will never metabolize the pain of the loss of our son”, says dad Rosario, for the couple of parents, it means today being able to look forward with a new, precious hope .
