The North American magazine Rolling Stone chose the film “The Substance” like the best horror genre production of 2024 . The film, which has gone viral on social media since its official debut in theaters in September this year, is at the top of the vehicle’s list alongside works such as “Nosferatu” and “Interview with the Demon” .
Regarding the film’s selection as the horror star of 2024, Rolling Stone said that the work is “an instant body horror classic”. “’The Substance’ will not redefine society’s fixation on youth or cure the hypocritical and hypersexist ills of Hollywood. However, it will remind you that when you are chasing your past by any means necessary, you are always your own worst enemy,” the post wrote.
Starring actresses Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley, “The Substance” features an actress who achieved success years ago and is fired from the fitness program she ran on television. From this, she is invited to participate in a medical treatment that promises a new, young version of herself based on a process of cellular replication — as a result, the two versions must coexist.
Moore and Qualley’s film is at the top alongside the feature films “Nosferatu” (second position) and “In A Violent Nature” (third position). Other films that appear on the list are “Longlegs”, “Interview with the Devil” and “Abigail”.
