Russia’s foreign ministry said on Thursday that the supply of air defense systems to Ukraine, as demanded by the president in the US Congress yesterday, would be a destabilizing factor that would not bring peace to the country, Reuters reported.
It is recalled that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Wednesday called on the United States to do more to protect his country from Russian invasion, pushing for the imposition of a no-fly zone and calling for aircraft and defense systems.
“Such deliveries would be a destabilizing factor that will certainly not bring peace to Ukraine,” Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told reporters.
“In the long run, they could have much more dangerous consequences,” she added.
The United States and its allies want to avoid NATO involvement in the conflict in Ukraine, but have provided military assistance to Kyiv since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on February 24.
