The surprise return of Liberato

«Liberato sings again». This is the caption that Liberato shares on his Instagram profile just before midnight on May 10, giving the world Parthenope, her new single. Shot in the Royal Palace, the video, very suggestive and very attentive to details, takes us back in time, to a sumptuous and gargantuan Naples that sees Giacomo Rizzo in the role of the king and the dancer Tonia Laterza in those of the siren. The direction, as always, is by Francesco Lettieri, while the message that Liberato seems to want to launch is the importance of a tribute to the history of his city and, in particular, to the history of Neapolitan music.

At the same time as Parthenope, Liberato publishes, however, too Freed II, a new album consisting of seven songs lasting a total of half an hour. Between an electronic cover of Cicerenella and the others No penzà, Nunneover, Anna, Neapolitan Guagliuncella And ‘Na history and’ na evening, Liberato digs into the past to rediscover the present and project itself into the future, as if he wanted to tell us that it is only by sinking our roots in what we have been that we can fully understand what we are.

The surprises, however, did not end here, given that Liberato, on 9 September, will perform at the San Siro Hippodrome on the occasion of Milano Rocks, making the happiness of those who have been waiting for a long time to attend one of his live performances. His desire to pay homage to tradition by stripping it and enriching it with new sounds is certainly one of the most interesting operations of the project, capable of shedding new light on this artist who, in 2021, also granted himself a feat with Ghali and J Lord.
