The Sustainability Hackathon was completed with the support of Lidl Hellas and the Athanasios K. Laskaridis Public Benefit Foundation

Lidl Hellas, as one of the largest food retailers, recognizes its responsibility for the environment.

In the context of environmental protection and sustainable development, it develops actions and participates in actions aimed at highlighting the talent and creativity of young people and actively supports the Greek ecosystem of technology and entrepreneurship.

In this direction, Lidl Hellas and the Athanasios K. Laskaridis Public Benefit Foundation, encourage the development of innovation and assist in ensuring sustainability by organizing the second open innovation action, with the technological and organizational support of Crowdpolic Greece, ” Without Disposable Plastics “and under the auspices of the Ministry of Environment and Energy. The goal is to activate society and business to create original applications and solutions that utilize technology, to contribute to a sustainable everyday life.

Specifically, on the three days 15 – 17 April 2022, the second marathon of innovation for the development of solutions and applications for sustainability was held hybridly and with unprecedented participation, which gathered the interest of teams and startups from all over Greece that developed their applications and proposals in 48 hours. and on Sunday 17 April they presented them to the evaluation committee. The event supported participants to form groups and collaborate to develop and present their idea.

The three days had it all:

-Innovative digital applications for sustainability, sustainability and entrepreneurship

– 6,100 messages and calls through the collaborative communication platform

More than 110 mentoring sessions with the participation of academics and market executives, who guided and supported the teams to formulate and advance their idea.

In total, more than 375 contestants, 35 teams and 35 mentors expressed their interest in the innovation marathon, while 30 teams presented their ideas and 5 of them secured their entry into the 5-month business acceleration program.

The final will take place in November, where one team will be distinguished as the winner of the event, with even bigger prizes.

The 5 groups that were distinguished are the following:

– Dataphoria: Analytics-as-a-Service services to companies and organizations to measure, accelerate and highlight their transition to sustainability.

– Rethinkers: Application with a reward system that contributes to ecological education and the use of eco-friendly products by citizens.

– Hagirls: SmartBin, a smart bin designed to make recycling a game.

– JBM: Water Manager SaaS, which solves the problem of reckless use of water in urban centers.

– Let’s Park: Crowdsourcing platform that connects citizen groups and municipalities with the Environmental Social Activation (ESG) program of companies.
