Ireland’s public health service, HSE Ireland, announced today that it had fallen victim to cyber attack with “redemptive” and for this reason has suspended the operation of its information system, according to APE.
“There has been a significant redemptive attack on the HSE information system. “For security reasons, we suspended its operation in order to protect it from this attack and to be able to assess the situation,” the HSE tweeted.
The agency apologized to patients suffering from the suspension of its system, but stressed that the vaccination campaign against covid-19 will not be affected as appointments “will be made normally”.
Due to the suspension of HSE’s online services, the Rotunda maternity hospital in Dublin canceled most of its outpatient appointments.
The cyber-attack on the HSE was carried out with a redemptive one, like the one against the Colonial Pipeline in the USA.
