The tender for the project of Waste Management in Rhodes through PPP was announced

The announcement of the first phase of the tender for the PPP project “Study, financing, construction, maintenance and operation of the Integrated Waste Management System of Rhodes Island” was published, with the Contracting Authority being the South Aegean Region.

The deadline for submission of expression of interest files is December 6, 2021.

The private entity will be selected through the competitive dialogue process and will undertake the study, financing, construction, maintenance and operation of the Integrated Waste Management System of Rhodes island, as well as the commercial exploitation of the produced products (recyclable materials, compost, electricity and / or thermal energy, etc.) for a period of 27 years.

As in all PPP tenders for waste management projects, the tender procedures allow all available technologies to meet the requirements of environmental objectives, European and national legislation, enhancing healthy competition between tenderers and the selection of the best solution.

The main criterion for selecting the contractor will be the lowest usage fee that the citizen will be required to pay, in parallel with the achievement of all environmental objectives, while EU resources can be utilized to finance the cost of implementation of the project.

The Minister of Development and Investment, Adonis Georgiadis stated:

The progress in these 28 months is very great. on the island of Rhodes, utilizing the tool of Public and Private Sector Partnerships. and their proper functioning “.

Deputy Minister of Development and Investment Nikos Papathanasis stated in this regard: “The projects constructed through Public-Private Partnerships are carried out within schedule and budget, while creating perfect and innovative infrastructure that upgrade the quality of life of our fellow citizens. “A sustainable and climate-neutral future is a key priority of the government.

The Secretary General of Private Investments and PPPs Orestis Kavalakis stated: “Another PPP waste management project is progressing and will decisively enhance the development perspective of the region. “.
