The tender social wishes of Charles of England to Princess Anne who turned 71

For his 71 years old, celebrated on August 15th in the castle of Balmoral among his loved ones, the Princess Anna was overwhelmed with greetings via social. But there is a special one. It’s that of the prince Carlo that posted a touching photo from 1951 on Instagram. The picture shows the Prince of Wales who shakes her younger sister’s hand, at the time just a year, while the two were sitting in their prams in the Clarence House garden, in Westminster. To comment, a few words, “I wish the Royal Princess a happy birthday today”, enriched by the emoticon of a birthday cake.

Carlo and Anna, separated by a year of age, have always been very close since childhood and they kept a special relationship. Also because the brother Andrea only arrived in 1960, when the two were now grown up, respectively 11 and 10 years old, and Edoardo even four years later. Me too’official account of the royal family celebrated 71 years of the only daughter of the regina Elizabeth II. And he did it with a Twitter post with four photos of Anna smiling, in uniform, next to her mother and Buckingham Palace at a reception.

The princess will soon indulge in one short vacation with the second husband Timothy Laurence by boat along the coast of Scotland (a passion, that of the sea, inherited from his father Filippo). But for her birthday she chose to stay a few days in Balmoral with her mother Elisabetta, who is spending the first summer without her beloved husband.

Allergic to the celebrations, Anna toasted her 71 years with an informal dinner which was also attended by the two sons had since her first marriage to Mark Phillips – Peter, 43 years old, e Zara, 40 – and the five grandchildren. Certainly, the climate in the splendid English castle is not the most serene this summer due to the latest procedural developments that risk definitively sinking his brother Andrea in the Epstein scandal. In the midst of the storm, Andrea also found refuge with his mother in Balmoral, accompanied by his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, who was again welcome in the castle after Philip’s death.

It is therefore likely that Anna, given her practical nature and her sense of responsibility towards the crown, spent her birthday trying to help the Royal Family find the right solution to stem the damage caused by Andrea. Ready, then, to leave with her husband for a few days of relaxation in Scottish waters. “I just act as a navigator”, Timothy Laurence admitted last year. “As a sailor Anna is much better than me”.
