The tension in the Gaza Strip is rising dangerously

For the second time in a number of days, Palestinians fired rockets from the Gaza Strip against southern Israel, the Israeli army said on Friday. clarifying that the action had no victims.

The Gaza Strip, home to more than two million Palestinians, has been ruled by the Islamist movement Hamas since 2007. The sector has since suffered a stifling Israeli blockade, backed by Egypt. This exclusion was the prelude to the three wars in which Israel and Hamas have since been involved (2008, 2012, 2014).

Since then, rocket-propelled grenades and rocket-propelled grenades have been fired from the Gaza Strip and Israeli retaliatory strikes against Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, the second-strongest Islamist group in the enclave, have been recorded.

This year marks the tenth anniversary of the development of the Israeli Iron Dome missile defense system, which has intercepted hundreds of rockets fired from the Gaza Strip and Syria.

The poverty rate in the Gaza Strip exceeds 50%. Living conditions in the pocket deteriorated further due to restrictive measures imposed to stop the spread of the new coronavirus pandemic.
