His lunch date Matthew Perry before his tragic death came to stress that the ‘Friends’ star was in good spirits just 24 hours before his apparent drowning. Athena Crosby, a 25-year-old model and entertainment reporter, identified herself as the brunette who accompanied Perry to the Bel-Air Hotel on Friday in what was to be his last public appearance.
“I am so devastated by his death, but I felt it wasn’t right to talk about it publicly as the focus shouldn’t be on me but on him and his legacy and he was an extremely private person and I always respected that in our friendship,” Crosby wrote in Wednesday on her Instagram Story. He added: “But we really were friends and I was one of the last people I spoke to and saw him before he died.”
The beautiful woman from Venezuela told the TMZ that the lunch date was not romantic and that the couple met through a mutual friend a few months ago. Crosby claimed Perry, 54, was in “extremely good spirits” when they hung out and spoke “excitedly about the things he had going on in his life. He was so happy and alive”broadcasts the New York Post.
Additionally, she claimed the ‘Fools Rush In’ star was excited to lose weight and how he would play pickleball the next day. Perry reportedly played pickleball for two hours the Saturday before found dead in his hot tub a few hours later.
Perry’s alleged drowning was not the result of a fentanyl overdose, according to reports Wednesday. However, further toxicology tests are currently being carried out which may take months to determine official cause of death of the actor.
