The time has come for the … bill for the 60-somethings – How will we lead to the lifting of the measures in catering and entertainment

LAST UPDATE: 09.15

By Dimitris Gatsios

The so-called and “tough” indicators of the pandemic are still being looked at by the government and experts, with health measures to limit the spread of the “Omicron” strain… running for three weeks now and the debate on its removal strategy being the next big front, which will be answered within the next twenty-four hours. At the same time, last night the vaccination deadline for the age group over 60 and over, those of our fellow citizens who have not done the first dose or do not have a scheduled home appointment are faced with the first wave of fines.

According to government sources, 90% of those over 60 have been vaccinated or have made an appointment. Thanks to the mandatory, the rate of vaccination coverage for age groups aged 60 and over, who are also the most vulnerable if they get coronavirus, has increased by almost ten points. Specifically, 2,761,838 citizens over 60 have been vaccinated or have made an appointment and as of November 30, 2021, 217,000 new vaccinated have been added.

As of today, the process of final crossroads between the General Secretariat of Information Systems, IDIKA and AADE of AMKA and AFM of unvaccinated citizens over 60 years of age is lifting the curtain, so that the final list can be drawn up and the certificates of fines can be made by the end of the month. (50 euros for January and 100 euros from February). Any exceptions concern foreign residents, those who have a decision to exempt from the obligation of vaccination by the three-member Health Committees of each Region for health reasons, those who have been vaccinated abroad and those who have applied for vaccination at home and vaccination has not yet taken place.

On the front of the restrictive measures, Megaro Maximou is waiting for the next meeting of the committee of experts of the Ministry of Health, which will submit its suggestions regarding the plan of phasing out. The government’s compass is the steady steps on this… bridge to return to full liberation, and if the positive assessments of the pandemic virus and the “Omicron” mutation in the community are confirmed, then a first step is not ruled out next Monday with the lifting of the ban on music in the restaurant.

At the same time, the most prevalent scenario wants the other bans, which are related to the hours of operation in catering and entertainment until midnight, to remain until the end of January, in order to… decompress the infections to be greater. All the movements, however, are constantly in the light of the number of admissions to the country’s hospitals and Intensive Care Units. “If the escalation of cases continues, the measures will be lifted or relaxed very soon,” said Health Minister Thanos Plevris, giving a first indication of the government’s intentions, with developments around Covid-19 holding another morning meeting in Maximos Palace.

All this, in fact, at a time when government officials are expressing satisfaction with the way the first week of returning to lifelong learning went. “The opening of the schools, despite the hysterical cries of the opposition and some scholars, proved to be a very good decision which was justified by the facts. The schools were opened safely and with very coordinated movements,” they comment. At the same time, they point out that:

-Last Monday, 15,547 cases were detected. 9,688 cases were detected on Tuesday and 6,500 on Thursday.

In total, during the week from the controls for the schools, more than 31,000 cases were identified in students – teachers.

“These data show first of all that the school environment is safer. When the schools were closed we had 15,000 cases and a few days after their opening 6,500. And second, the implementation of these protocols protects not only the educational community, but Within a few days to Thursday night, a total of 31,000 cases were identified which were isolated, interrupting the spread of the virus. “They would have seen, on average, at least ten people, according to statistics,” government officials said.
