The total partition of Cyprus is a ‘sustainable solution’ for Erdogan: The provocative message to Tatars

Achieving a just, permanent and sustainable “solution” in Cyprus will only be possible with a framework based on realities, the Turkish president said in his message on the 48th anniversary of the invasion, expressing full support for the vision of a solution that Ersin Tatar presented in Geneva last year “for the ratification of the sovereign equality and international status of the Turkish Cypriots” and the subsequent negotiation of cooperation models between the two states on the island.

“On behalf of my Nation and me personally, on the occasion of the 48th anniversary of our peace operation in Cyprus, in which the Turkish Cypriots achieved an environment of peace and freedom, which buried forever the attempt to destroy the rights, the law, the existence and of the sovereignty of the Turkish Cypriot people, the sovereign, equal and common owner of the island, I congratulate all the Turkish Cypriot people with my most heartfelt feelings. The Turkish Cypriot people, who have always demonstrated their commitment to peace and resolution throughout the historical process, has proven at every opportunity that it has the strength and will to overcome all kinds of challenges, with a consciousness of unity and solidarity, as well as its determination to protect the law, despite the legal and inhumane restrictions it has been subjected to,” Erdogan said .

In his message, the Turkish president expresses support “with the same understanding” for the cooperation proposals submitted by Mr. Tatar, the implementation of which – he added – and the achievement of a solution based on sovereign equality and the equal international status of the Turkish Cypriot “people ” will contribute significantly not only to Cyprus, but also to the peace, prosperity and stability of the Eastern Mediterranean region.

“In light of our shared historical experience, there is no doubt that achieving a just, permanent and sustainable solution in Cyprus will only be possible with a reality-based framework. With this understanding, we once again express our full support to the vision of a solution presented in Geneva last year by the states, which aims primarily to record the sovereign equality and equal international status of the Turkish Cypriot people and then to negotiate models of cooperation between the two states on the island.Turkey, with the same understanding , supports the proposals for cooperation between the two sides on the island in a way that will benefit both peoples.Furthermore, reaching a solution based on the sovereign equality and equal international status of the Turkish Cypriot people will contribute not only to Cyprus but also to peace , to the prosperity and stability of the Eastern Mediterranean region. We will pursue justice our fight”, added the Turkish president.

He further said that Turkey will not remain a spectator to the Turkish Cypriots remaining “hostages” of the non-solution forever: “We will continue our just struggle for the understanding of unwavering solidarity with the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in order to eliminate this injustice and to ensure that the Turkish Cypriot people reach the prosperous future they deserve. Turkey’s growing regional and global role will undoubtedly continue to be the greatest safeguard for the future of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. On this occasion, on behalf of the great Turkish nation and I sincerely celebrate the day of peace and freedom of the Turkish Cypriot people, we remember our martyrs who sacrificed their lives in this blessed struggle with mercy and gratitude and our veteran heroes with gratitude and respect. I send my best wishes to you”.
