The trade deficit in the first four months is at 11.3 billion euros

A large increase in imports and exports was recorded in the first four months of the year, during which Greece’s trade deficit amounted to 11.3 billion, showing a strong increase of 71.6%, mainly due to the value of petroleum products..

In particular, the value of imports amounted to 6.85 billion euros in April and 27.02 billion in the four months, while the value of exports amounted to 4.1 billion in April and 15.7 billion in the four months.

Respectively, the trade deficit in April 2022 amounted to 2.74 billion euros, showing an increase of 49.5% and 11.3 billion in the four months with an increase of 71.6%.

The value without petroleum products amounted to 582.6 million euros, ie + 41.1% in April and 2.51 billion, ie + 46.8% in the four months.

In detail, as announced by ELSTAT:

The total value of imports – arrivals in April 2022 amounted to 6,854.1 million euros ($ 7,393.1 million) against 5,033.6 million euros ($ 5,998.1 million) in the same month of the year 2021 showing an increase, in euros, of 36.2%. The corresponding value without petroleum products in April 2022 increased by 888.3 million euros, ie 23.2%, while the corresponding value without petroleum products and ships in April 2022 increased by 883.4 million. euros, ie 23.2%, compared to the month of April 2021.

The total value of exports – shipments in April 2022 amounted to 4,106.6 million euros ($ 4,456.4 million) compared to 3,195.8 million euros ($ 3,831.4 million) in the same month of the year 2021 showing an increase, in euros, of 28.5%. The corresponding value without petroleum products in April 2022 increased by 305.7 million euros, ie 12.7% and the corresponding value without petroleum products and ships in April 2022 increased by 305.3 million euros, that is 12.7%, compared to the month of April 2021.

The trade deficit in April 2022 amounted to 2,747.5 million euros ($ 2,936.7 million) compared to 1,837.8 million euros ($ 2,166.7 million) in the same month of 2021, showing increase, in euros, 49.5%. The corresponding value without petroleum products in April 2022 showed an increase in the deficit by 582.6 million euros, ie 41.1%, while the corresponding value without petroleum products and ships in April 2022 increased by 578.1 million euros, ie 41.1% compared to the month of April 2021

The total value of imports – arrivals during the period January-April 2022 amounted to 27,024.9 million euros ($ 29,960.7 million) compared to 18,563.8 million euros ($ 22,241.7 million) in same period of 2021, showing an increase of 45.6% in euros. The corresponding value without petroleum products increased by 4,434.3 million euros, ie 30.7% and the corresponding value without petroleum products and ships increased by 4,411.0 million euros, ie 30.7%, compared to the period January-April 2021.

The total value of exports – shipments during the period January-April 2022 amounted to 15,723.8 million euros ($ 17,516.3 million) compared to 11,979.9 million euros ($ 14,443.6 million) in same period of 2021, showing an increase of 31.3% in euros. The corresponding value without petroleum products increased by 1,920.1 million euros, ie 21.2% and the corresponding value without petroleum products and ships increased by 1,910.9 million euros, ie 21.1%, compared to the period January-April 2021.

The trade deficit during the period January-April 2022 amounted to EUR 11,301.1 million ($ 12,444.4 million) compared to € 6,583.9 million ($ 7,798.1 million) in the same period of 2021, showing an increase, in euros, 71.6%.

The corresponding size without petroleum products showed an increase of 2,514.2 million euros, ie 46.8% and the corresponding size without petroleum products and ships increased by 2,500.1 million euros, ie 46.8%.
