The user bought this wallet through the Duyin platform, the Chinese version of Tiktok. Douyin has a function of e -commerce – Duyin Shop, which allows sellers to offer various products. The closed key was compromised immediately when it was created, and the user’s funds were stolen from the wallet for several hours.
Slowmist security experts warned that at first glance, the purchase of a cold wallet on favorable conditions may seem to be a good way to save money. However, wallets in “factory packaging” or sold “at a discount” are often faked by scammers, and a reduced price is only a way to lure more victims. Do not transfer all your fortune to a wallet, which is sold by several hundred dollars cheaper, otherwise it may not be saving money, but “throwing life into the wind.”
The user under the pseudonym Hella, who previously worked under the leadership of Jihan Wu, co-founder of Bitmain for the production of ASIC-mainers, said that a similar case occurred with his close friend. He also bought a compromised wallet, which turned out to be a carefully planned trap.
Stolen cryptocurrencies were washed through the Huiwang Cambodian conglomerate in a few hours, also known as Huione Group. It includes the Huione Pay PLC payment platform, the Huione Crypto cryptocurrency exchange and the Haowang Guarantee Darknet Platform. In May, the US authorities threatened to deprive Huione Group access to the banking system, accusing the group of promoting money laundering and crypto -dews. Therefore, Hella warned that it was necessary to buy a cold wallet through reliable channels. Most of those on the Internet are fake.
