Federal Judge Katherine Failla ordered the prosecution and defense to exchange information about expert witnesses who might be called to testify.
A group of lawyers defending Storm’s interests protested. Lawyers said the judge’s order violated federal rules of procedure and would result in disclosure of information about the defense’s position that would “cause significant harm to their client.”
Lawyers have filed a motion to overturn Faill’s ruling, which is scheduled to be heard in mid-November.
The start of Storm’s trial has been postponed to April 14, 2025. The trial is expected to last just two weeks. If convicted, the defendant faces up to 45 years in prison.
Earlier, the Southern District of New York court rejected the Tornado Cash co-founder’s petition to overturn the US Treasury’s lawsuit and ruled that Storm would have to stand trial on charges of money laundering.
