The two best restaurants in the world for 2021 are located in Denmark

THE Copenhagen confirmed its reputation as a global gastronomic destination, as two of its restaurants finished in first and second place in the awards of the 50 best restaurants of 2021, which are widely considered the Oscars of gastronomy.

The Rent by the chef René Redzepi, famous for its food and fermentation techniques, emerged as the best restaurant. At a ceremony at Antwerp of Belgium, on Tuesday night (05/10) the Rent became the best restaurant in the world for 2021 (it has won the title four more times, in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2014, while it came out second in 2019). A week earlier another restaurant from Denmark, the Geranium took second place.

“No trip to Rent is never the same as the chef René Redzepi and his team, to constantly look for unexpected ingredients and turn them into beautiful dishes “said the committee for the winner and also:” best moments from previous seasons include a vegetarian sauerkraut from celery and a duck dish from the leg, the brain and the heart served with “claw, feather and beak” and sweet crab meat served on a crab-shaped bread.

THE William Drew, the content manager for the 50 best restaurants in the world, said Rent “It was arguably the most important restaurant of its generation, setting new standards in research and supply of ingredients, dish development and presentation.”

The staff at Rent – whose current menu “game & forest season” costs 2,800 Danish kroner (376 Euros), plus 1,800 kroner (242 Euros) for the accompanying wines, and according to social media posts features raw sumac, bear and reindeer brain – exploded with joy in the news.

Earlier this year, the Rent was awarded three stars Michelin, with its award being explained due to “the strong connection of the restaurant with nature and its holistic approach, the unusual seasonal ingredients that appear in creative and complex dishes”.
