Ukraine’s military announced today, Thursday 3/10, that it used ATACMS ballistic missiles to strike a Russian radar station in order to limit Moscow’s ability to “detect, track and intercept aerodynamic and ballistic targets”. The Ukrainian military did not specify when the strike occurred, nor did it specify the location of this Nebo-M radar station, in its Telegram announcement. “The destruction of the Nebo-M radar will create a favorable airstrip for the effective use of the Storm Shadow and SCALP-EG cruise missiles,” he pointed out. Ukraine’s military has noted that it believes Russia has 10 more such systems, each estimated to cost more than $100 million. The US sent long-range ATACMS missiles to Ukraine in the spring, and White House security adviser Jake Sullivan has pointed out that Kiev had pledged then to use them only on Ukrainian soil.
