The unemployment rate of the United Kingdom rises to 4.6% in the quarter until April, as expected

Ilo unemployment from the United Kingdom increased to 4.6% in the three months until April, after reporting 4.5% in the quarter until March, according to the data published on Tuesday by the Office of National Statistics (ONS).

The data aligned with market estimates.

Additional details of the report showed that the number of people who claimed unemployment benefits increased by 33.1K in May, compared to a revised decrease of 21.2K in April, failing the expected figure of 9.5K.

Employment change data were 89K in April compared to 112K in March.

Meanwhile, the average profits, excluding bonuses, in the United Kingdom increased 5.2% in three interannual months (3m yoy) in April compared to a revised growth of 5.5% previously recorded. The market forecast was a 5.4%reading.

Another measure of salary inflation, the average profits, including bonuses, rose 5.3% in the same period after accelerating 5.6% reviewed in the quarter until March. The data did not reach the 5.5%estimate.
