The United States and Cyprus increased humanitarian aid – “But more needs to be done” UN officials stress

The United Nations welcomed every effort to ensure that humanitarian aid reaches Gaza and expressed gratitude to the US, Cyprus and other countries for keeping the sea corridor open as an additional route for aid deliveries to the Gaza Strip. “Palestinian civilians in Gaza are in desperate need of food, water and other essentials,” US Permanent Representative to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield said in a social media post, adding that “the United States, Cyprus, the United Nations and others have increased aid, but more must be done, Israel must do more,” notably “to keep vital land crossings open.” As the deputy spokesman of the UN Farhan Haq reported, the international organization agreed to support the reception and arrangement of the aid mission in Gaza from the floating dock installed by the US military, as long as it respects the neutrality and independence of humanitarian operations. “Given the enormous needs […]
