The Pentagon has set up a new direct line of contact with Russia’s Defense Ministry to prevent “accidents” and “miscalculations” in the region as Russia invades Ukraine, a US official told Reuters.

In particular, according to the agency, the official who spoke on condition of anonymity said that “the (US) Department of Defense recently established a de-escalation line with the Russian Ministry of Defense on March 1, in order to avoid miscalculations, military maneuvers” .

According to reports, the area of ​​focus is Ukraine’s border with Poland and the Black Sea, while this military communication line is based on the corresponding line between the two countries in Syria.
