The United States has banned the import of Russian vodka and caviar

President Biden has announced that the United States is banning imports of Russian alcohol, seafood and diamonds, as the White House escalates its actions in the face of Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine, according to Bloomberg.

The move affects only a small portion of US imports, but targets iconic Russian products such as vodka and caviar. At the same time, President Biden called on the country’s MPs to remove from the country the trade regime of the “rather favored state”, in statements he made today in the White House.

The U.S. imports soft drinks and alcoholic beverages worth a total of about $ 24.1 million a year from Russia, as most Russian-branded vodkas are produced in other countries, such as Stoli from Latvia as Stolichnaya vodka was renamed earlier this month in response to Russian invasion.

However, the United States imported $ 1.2 billion worth of Russian seafood last year.
