The unsolved mystery with the curved pines in a forest of Poland

There are many unsolved mysteries in the world that confirm with the above that nature can “give birth” to the strangest and at the same time most beautiful images that one can see. One of them is the landscape found near the town of Gryfino, in Poland.

A vast forest with pines that have, however, a peculiarity. Their trunks are not straight but just above the ground they form a curve. An image that is not found anywhere else in the world, causing both interest and wonder.

The reason for the Crooked Forest, a forest of 400 pine trees with a strange shape, which were planted around 1930, when its location still belonged to the German province of Pomerania. From their base, the pine trees they grow with a sharp bend 90 degrees to the north, but then bend backwards to grow straight into the sky. Despite the unnatural curves that bend 90-275 cm sideways at their bases, these trees are generally healthy and reach a height of about one and a half meters.

There are many theories about this mysterious landscape, although there is little or no evidence to support any of them. According to discovery.com, some speculate that a single gravitational pull in this particular area caused the trees to curve northward, but this theory does not meet the basic scientific test as gravity pulls things towards the bottom and not on a curve.

Others assume that heavy snowfall in the area weighed on them trees as they grew, causing them to grow crooked at their base, which is also not explained as other groups of pines or trees in the same area do not have the same specificity.

The most common and probable explanation is that the local farmers who planted the trees in 1930, in their own way “directed” them to obtain this curve. Which, however, no one can confirm as the town of Gryfino was largely abandoned between the early stages of World War II until the 1970s, and most, if not all, of the farmers would have to give some answer to the mystery of the “Curved Forest” not to be found most likely alive.
