The US military announced yesterday that it had carried out a bombardment in Syria’s Deir al-Zor province against infrastructure used by armed groups linked to Iran’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC).
The US Central Command said in a statement that such bombings are aimed at protecting US military forces from possible attacks against them by armed groups supported by Iran.
The same military command cited an August 15 incident, reported by Reuters, involving a drone that attacked a compound of US-backed Syrian opposition fighters, causing no injuries. .
The statement about yesterday’s US bombing did not say whether there were any injuries.
