The US military announced in the early hours of Friday that it had “destroyed” radars on Yemeni soil that allowed the Houthis to target ships, as the rebels have stepped up attacks on shipping in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. The United States’ joint command for the Middle East (CENTCOM, “central command”) reported via X that “seven radars” were destroyed that allowed the Houthis to target “ships and endanger commercial shipping.” He said radars were destroyed over the past 24 hours in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen, adding that two unmanned surface vessels (USVs) and a remote-controlled unmanned aerial system (UAS) of the rebels were also destroyed, respectively, in and over the Red Sea.
