The US government approved on Wednesday the sale of eight MQ-9B drones in Qatar, worth $ 1.96 billion (1.82 billion euros), in an agreement that boosts strategic relations with Washington’s ally in the Middle East. The proposed sale “will improve Qatar’s potential to face current and future threats,” the US International International Co -operation and DSCA defense (DSCA) said in a statement published. “This defensive potential is a means of preventing regional threats and will be used primarily (by Qatar) to strengthen its national defense,” the text is added. The US Foreign Ministry approved the potential sale, which DSCA officially alerted the US Congress.
